Career Summary

 

Jerome Yavarkovsky was University Librarian at Boston College for thirteen years.  Before that, for ten years he was Director of the New York State Library in Albany, the only state library member of the Association of Research Libraries.

Atkinson Award

 

In 2004, Jerome Yavarkovsky received the Hugh C. Atkinson Award at the annual conference of the American Library Association.

The Atkinson Award honors the life and accomplishments of Hugh C. Atkinson, one of the pioneers of modern librarianship, by recognizing an academic librarian who has made significant and innovative contributions in the areas of library automation, management, development and research.

Immersive Education

Since retiring from his career as academic and research library director, Jerome Yavarkovsky has been the founding co-chair of the Library Technology Working Group under the Immersive Education Initiative of the Media Grid.
