Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award

In 2004, Jerome Yavarkovsky received the Hugh C. Atkinson Award at the annual conference of the American Library Association.

The Atkinson Award honors the life and accomplishments of Hugh C. Atkinson, one of the pioneers of modern librarianship, by recognizing an academic librarian who has made significant and innovative contributions in the areas of library automation, management, development and research. It is jointly sponsored by four divisions of American Library Association: the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS), the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA), and the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA) and is funded from an endowment established in memory of Hugh C. Atkinson.
