The College of the Bahamas

In September 2007, the Board of the Lyford Cay Foundation invited Jerome to make a presentation on contemporary academic library buildings and services. The Foundation had been working with The College of The Bahamas for some years on their development of a new library building, and this was an opportunity to bring his experience to bear on their planning. Immediately following the presentation, the Board was inspired to authorize a gift to the College for the renovation of existing library space and the acquisition of seventy-five new computers to supplement those previously available to students. Jerome continued to advise on library technology for collections and services as architectural design of the new library proceeded and the College embarked on the design of completely new network infrastructure to support their administrative, student records and library processing needs.

The Harry C. Moore Library and Information Centre opened officially in April 2011, named after the former Chairman of the Lyford Cay Foundation, who had devoted his life to the advancement of education. With new facilities and systems to support the College community, Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Hubert Ingraham said at the opening, β€œThe great promise of this Center is the utilization of cutting-edge technology to make access to information and library resources, particularly on the Bahamas, easier and more direct for every island and community in the Bahamas. The possibilities provided by the Harry C. Moore Centre are boundless. They include expanded distance learning connecting students at COB with universities around the world and integrating communications technologies in various academic disciplines.”
